The HP (model: G62-355DX) laptop features Microsoft Windows 7. HP G62-355DX Laptop with AMD Athlon II Processor This laptop is powered by the AMD Athlon II p340 CPU. This is a 64-bit, dual-core processor running at 2.2GHz. This CPU has 1MB of L2 cache and uses only 25W. It’s part of AMD Vision Technology line up. This laptop comes with 3GB DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB. The screen is a 15.6″ diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED display with a resolution of 1366×768. That’s a 16:9 aspect ratio and features support for native 720p HD content. The screen is driven by the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics card. This has 256MB of dedicated memory and can support up to 1789MB of dynamically allocated shared graphics memory. So far it runs great, low heat, quiet fan boots fast and no hardware problems. I installed Linux on it and it runs great! If something goes wrong I'll be sure to update this review.
My only problem was the mouse, it only has one button which can be clicked on either side, it's very annoying that you have to press on the edge of the mouse button for either left or right click, they should have just used 2 buttons like most laptops. The touch pad also seems a little unresponsive at times, it flys off sometimes but that's not often and doesn't matter so much.

I purchased this notebook at Best Buy about four months ago thinking that my older notebook died on me, but that is another story...In any case on 8/30/11 I started to get the BSOD... I was trying to figure out what was wrong, was it a software issue or hardware. After trying a few restore points I took it back to best buy's geek squad.. It turned out that the notebook had a faulty memory module and it is being sent out to the repair center.
Now prior to getting the BSOD, it was OK, the flat keys takes getting use to. On the old notebook the keys were raised a bit. The webcam works pretty good I took some short video clips of me to test it out.
For now aside from the faulty memory module it is a decent notebook for an average users.

All in all not a bad deal, but be warned. If you do alot of mobile computing, or even on your couch or in bed (as I do) the trackpad and clicker are all but useless, terrible design of the clicker button it is a single bar that takes alot of force to click, to the point of having to remove your whole hand from the trackpad to push down on the mouse button with enough force to register. The trackpad itself is jumpy and inaccurate, fiddling with the sensitivity settings does mitigate some of these problems, also the "scroll pad" area is not marked or bordered from the rest of the case, actually the trackpad itself is not marked either, just a flat flush surface under the keyboard so sometimes you run off the pad not knowing where it ends, or jump the mouse around by resting your palms on the case. Its impossible to use the trackpad scroll function to scroll down because of this, the combination of the jumpy sensitivity and having to hunt for where the little skinny part of the pad that controls scrolling is makes it pretty much useless, be ready to drag the scroll bar down on websites with using the cursor and button the old fashioned way which again requires use of the trash clicker bar, very annoying. Other then that the screen is bright and crisp, processor is snappy, laptop stays VERY cool, even sitting on top of cotton bedsheets. It is also very quiet, TONS of HP bloatware and junk, using CCcleaner gets rid of most of it in short order, all in all a good buy but have an external mouse ready unless you have alot of patience.
