I had seen ceiling racks like this one in Europe, but had to go online to find some here in USA.
This one is sleek, and the dimensions are small enough to fit my cramped laundry room -
some others are too long. You'll also need extra space to clear window hardware and doors,
especially with the "curtain" of cords coming down one corner. Plan out the space before installation.
For me, this wasn't a do-it -yourself installation, but could be for others.
My ceilings are extra-high, and that presented another problem besides installation:
the cords needed extensions added (which I did.) Easy enough, but now I must be extra-careful
so they don't tangle.
Even so, the rods glide up/down easily on mechanisms like a window shade.
It's modular: use as many/few as you need. The system works for draping large items
over the rods and for using hangers from the rods.
This laundry lifter is a terrific space-saver. And it's ecological - the clothes dry
faster in the warmer air at the ceiling.

I live in a small studio / cottage. I discovered a portable washing machine and dryer set. They saved time by not having to travel to the laundromats. However, the dryer did raise the cost of my electrical consumption. The Laundry Lift lets me hang dry my clothes and keep it out of the way. I did try the clothes racks and a cheaply made retractable clothes line that still took up space no matter where I placed them. I discovered the laundry lift after watching a British TV Show that showed a character raising a laundry rack in the kitchen (unheard of in America!). So after finding and watching videos of this device I fell in love with it. It is VERY WELL MADE. It is designed to be bolted through the ceiling boards and is made of strong materials. I am by no means a handyman, so I had my very avid brother come over and properly install it for me. I just hung my first load last night around 9pm and when I woke up at 5:30 it was completely dry. I believe the kitchen is the optimal place for it since the heat from my gas stove and air flow from a slightly open window allows for fast drying. If you are considering this product, BUY IT! Make sure you or someone can install it securely for best results.

This product is great, so easy to use with a limited space I have in my laundry room. I was a bit disappointed with the price when I found a competing product (AirDry) sold for half the price, but even with that Greenway was well worth it.
